Community Ads are short sponsor messages from local businesses and People operations that help pay for the program. They travel on the card with everything else (always offline, always curated by you), and the device shows at most one ad for every thirteen content cards.

Create an ad

  1. Open your PAC project, then go to the Community Ads screen. If you have no ads yet, you'll see "No ads yet."
  2. Click the round + button at the top right. A New ad form opens.
  3. Fill in Sponsor, the name shown as "Sponsored by …" on the device. For example: Red Rock Casino Operations.
  4. Fill in Title, the headline people will read, like Elders eat free on Sundays.
  5. Add a short Body line if you want supporting text. This is optional.
  6. Add the picture. Click the large dashed frame below the fields to choose an image from your computer (PNG, JPG, or WEBP). The frame fills with your picture once it's imported. The frame stays grayed out until you've typed a sponsor or title: the ad needs a name before it can hold a picture.
  7. Click Save ad. The button stays dimmed until the ad has a sponsor, a title, and a picture. Those three are required.

As you type, the panel on the right shows a live preview of how the ad will look on the device, with its "Community Ad" chip and sponsor line.

Add a link, dates, and weight

  1. Link is optional. If you add one, it must start with https:// or poca://. Plain http:// links are not allowed: the checks will flag them. Leave the field empty and the ad simply won't be tappable.
  2. First day and Last day set when the ad runs. Both days are included: an ad ending September 30 still shows on September 30. Leave them empty and the ad runs all the time.
  3. Weight controls how often this ad appears compared to the others. Every ad starts at 1. Set it to 3 and the ad gets roughly three shares of the rotation instead of one.
  4. Check Portal lock screens if the ad should also appear on the lock screens of Portal devices. Ads in the list wear a small lock badge when this is on.
  5. Locale is optional. Type es to show the ad only to Spanish-language devices (it also matches es-MX). Leave it empty to show the ad to everyone.

Edit or remove an ad

  1. Each ad in the list has a pencil button (Edit ad). Click it to reopen the form, make your changes, and click Save ad.
  2. The trash button (Remove from rotation) takes the ad out of the rotation right away.

Removing an ad stops it from showing, but its picture file stays on the card until you tombstone it from the archive settings. A small message reminds you of this each time you remove one.

Watch for the warning panel

If anything about your ads needs attention, a bordered panel appears near the top of the Community Ads screen with one line per problem. Common flags:

Lines in red must be fixed before the card is delivered; the softer lines are reminders you can act on when you're ready.

What the device shows

On the device's Dashboard, one ad slot appears for every thirteen content cards. The ad is clearly marked with a "Community Ad" chip and a "Sponsored by …" line, so it never blends in with your People's stories. Which ad fills each slot is chosen by weight, only from ads active that day. If no ads are active, the slots simply disappear: the device never shows an empty placeholder.
